As freelancers, we’ve all been there — writer’s block rearing its ugly head when you least expect it.

Staring at a blank page totally sucks, am I right?

And even when the ideas start flowing, who has time to constantly reinvent the wheel and remove repetitiveness from draft after draft?

That’s where AI comes to the rescue!

Tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and others are like your personal ideation assistants, helping generate creative ideas and catch overused phrases. AI won’t write the whole story for you, but it can definitely help unstick those stubborn projects, so your original voice can shine through.

Freelancing writing is hard, but AI can make it a little easier!

To make it easier for you, I have listed 10 AI writing tools I have used over the last eight months of the year.

I hope it works for you too!

-ChatGPT:

This conversational AI system from OpenAI can generate human-like text on demand. Feed it a writing prompt, and ChatGPT will produce paragraphs or even complete articles. It is excellent at mimicking human writing styles.

While it shouldn’t be used to plagiarize, ChatGPT can help freelancers overcome writer’s block, research topics, expand outlines, and more. Use it as a versatile idea generator, and you are good to go.

To help business owners and service providers use ChatGPT wonderfully, I wrote a cheat sheet of prompts and am giving it out here for almost FREE. Check it now before I change my mind!

-Claude:

Developed by Anthropic to be helpful, harmless, and honest, Claude is an AI assistant designed for safe conversation.

Ask it questions, and Claude provides thoughtful, nuanced responses.

As an AI writing tool, it excels at summarizing long articles, expanding outlines, catching errors, and answering research queries. Claude can even suggest blog topics and headlines. Its advanced capabilities help human writers stay productive.

However, I am not sure you can access it as a Nigerian without a VPN. I was able to use it when I used a VPN for it and changed my country to another location.

-Jasper:

This AI writing assistant was explicitly created for freelance writers. Jasper asks clarifying questions before generating custom content around a topic. Users can fine-tune outputs, request multiple variations, and develop ideas collaboratively with Jasper.

Its clean web interface and writing-focused features make Jasper a go-to for freelancers. Although you can use it for free for a while, the best results can only be gotten through the paid version.

-Grammarly:

The grammar checker tool Grammarly is for more than fixing typos and mistakes. Its AI capabilities also make it great for strengthening writing style and clarity. Grammarly offers tone adjustments, vocabulary expansions, and conciseness improvements.

The free and premium versions provide helpful feedback for freelance writers seeking to polish and perfect their work.

-Perplexity:

This AI summarization tool condenses long articles into succinct overviews. Perplexity’s algorithms identify vital details and themes to cut content down by up to 90% without losing core information. It’s ideal for creating quick summaries of research sources.

Freelancers can utilize Perplexity to accelerate their comprehension of complex material. And it is exceptional if you are a student too. Try it out!

-Shortly:

Shortly’s automatic summarization works similarly to Perplexity but with a slicker, more premium feel. It summarizes documents in a flash.

Shortly also stands out for its audio summary features, converting condensed text overviews into natural voice recordings. Freelancers can listen to shortcuts of long articles while multitasking.

-Sudowrite:

This AI content generator focuses squarely on long-form writing. Feed it a title and outline, and Sudowrite will autonomously write complete articles.

Freelancers can then edit the AI-assisted drafts. Sudowrite aims to help writers produce more content in less time.

Use it for starter copy or when dealing with writer’s block.

-Wisebot:

This AI chatbot acts as a personalized writing assistant. Load Wisebot with notes on your writing project, and it’ll answer questions, make recommendations, and generate ideas tailored to the task. Wisebot can help overcome writer’s block, research topics, polish drafts, and more. Its conversational approach makes it easy to integrate into any freelancer’s workflow.

-Rewriter:

As its name indicates, Rewriter uses AI to rewrite text to improve its overall quality automatically. The web-based tool can rearrange sentences, substitute words, adjust tone, enhance clarity, and more. Freelancers can use Rewrite to smooth out their own rough drafts. It saves the time and effort of rewriting from scratch.

Rytr:

This AI content generator boasts proprietary technology designed to produce completely unique articles. Rytr asks questions about a writing topic, assignment, and goal, then autonomously generates custom-drafted content optimized for SEO.

Freelancers can request and refine outputs before using them. Rytr aims to jumpstart and accelerate the human writing process.

Rounding Up

As freelance writers, embracing AI tools doesn’t mean surrendering creativity; it’s about harnessing technology to elevate your craft. Each tool on this list is a trusted sidekick, assisting you in different facets of your writing journey.

Whether battling writer’s block, seeking fresh ideas, refining your style, or enhancing readability, these AI-powered tools have your back.

Remember, while AI can provide guidance, your unique voice and perspective are irreplaceable. Use these tools as allies, not replacements, and let your creativity flow.

NB:

Last week, I wrote an incredible guide for business owners and service providers on how to get the most out of ChatGPT. In the guide, I listed 60 prompts they can use to scale their marketing campaigns. That’s not all!

I gave another free guide on social media posting times to those who bought it.
